A personal, ongoing series of illustrations to explore afro-pessimist theory on the social death of black people.
Social death is defined by a relationship between the slave and others; therefore slavery is social death which is composed of three elements: (a) gratuitous violence or the body of the slave is open to violence of others; (b) natal alienation or the world doesn't recognize or incorporate filial relations of the slave to a larger societal understanding of family and (c) general dishonor or the slave is dishonored in their very being, according to Frank Wilderson III in Afro Pessimism: An Introduction.
